Chief Engineer
Holiday Inn Express & Suites is seeking a dependable, experienced, and hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee all maintenance and engineering operations for our hotel. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the property is safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently while delivering an exceptional experience for every guest.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to preventative maintenance and operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee all daily engineering and maintenance operations for the hotel.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, mechanical equipment, and building systems.
  • Perform and supervise repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, appliances, and general building maintenance.
  • Lead, train, schedule, and support the maintenance team while fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations.
  • Conduct routine property inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure brand standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and capital improvement projects.
  • Manage department budgets, inventory, purchasing, and expense controls.
  • Maintain compliance with all IHG brand standards, OSHA requirements, fire and life safety regulations, and local building codes.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, equipment records, and required inspections.
  • Partner with hotel leadership to ensure the property consistently delivers a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of hotel engineering, facilities management, or commercial building maintenance experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of building and equipment issues.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with maintenance management systems is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.
