The Delta Hotels Orlando Celebration has an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Assistant Chief Engineer. The Hotel Assistant Chief Engineer provides hands-on leadership to the engineering team, supervising daily maintenance operations, repairs, and preventative maintenance (PM) to ensure guest comfort, safety, and brand standards. They support the Chief Engineer, managing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, while handling staff training, inventory, and emergency responses 24/7.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Maintenance & Technical Leadership: Perform and oversee repairs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration) and execute the preventive maintenance program to maintain guest rooms and public spaces.
โ€ข Team Supervision: Supervise, train, and mentor engineering staff, creating duty rosters and addressing performance in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
โ€ข Property Operations: Inspect facilities regularly for safety, compliance, and "curb appeal" (painting, landscaping, lighting), maintaining accurate maintenance logs and records.
โ€ข Operational Support: Assist in managing vendor contracts, controlling energy costs, purchasing supplies, and managing capital project budgets.
โ€ข Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including life safety systems, fire pumps, and health codes for pools/spas.
Qualifications
โ€ข Experience: 3-5+ years in hotel facilities maintenance or related engineering roles, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership/supervisory position.
โ€ข Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and boiler systems.
โ€ข Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and troubleshooting abilities, along with proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS) and Microsoft Office.
โ€ข Education: High school diploma/GED required; a 2-year degree in engineering or related field is often preferred.
โ€ข Flexibility: Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays, and provide 24/7 emergency response.
