What you will have an opportunity to do

Hotel ELEO is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Engineer to lead all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations for our luxury hotel. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the hotel's physical assets, building systems, and preventive maintenance programs while delivering an exceptional guest experience. This leadership role oversees all aspects of facility maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, building infrastructure, and guest-facing areas. The ideal candidate is a visible leader who enjoys working alongside their team, solving complex maintenance challenges, and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of all hotel facilities, guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, restaurants, fitness facilities, grounds, and back-of-house operations.
  • Ensure proper operation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, boiler, chiller, generator, water treatment, and life safety systems.
  • Conduct routine property inspections to ensure safety, functionality, appearance, and compliance standards are met.
  • Respond to operational issues and emergency situations as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Engineering team through training, performance management, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and exceptional service.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment life and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor utility usage and support energy conservation initiatives.
  • Recommend and support capital improvement projects and long-term asset preservation plans.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, and expense control.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contractor bids, and project oversight.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, building codes, fire life safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and risk management initiatives.
  • Maintain all required engineering documentation, permits, and certifications.
What are we looking for?Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certifications preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive engineering, facilities maintenance, or building operations experience, preferably within hospitality, healthcare, commercial, or resort environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, generators, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, budgets, and capital projects.
