Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Application Engineer will provide technical and commercial sales support. This person is responsible for rapid delivery of quotations; submittal data, Hydraulic Analysis design and other information needed by Crane Sales Team and Channel Partners to help drive sales growth. This will require the candidate to develop detailed product knowledge, and will require strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will also participate in outside sales calls and training / product demonstrations with the sales team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Ability to review customer specifications to determine customer needs
  • Initiate product quotes as requested from the field, collaborating with peers to ensure balanced workload for quick response
  • Maintain Key Process Indicators such as new product sales, quote wins and losses or quote response time, as requested by manager
  • Assist Channel Partners and Regional Sales Managers with technical requests and preliminary field issue troubleshooting
  • Assist with New Product Development and other tasks as requested by the manager
  • Provide Channel Partner product training as requested by manager
  • Travel up to 10% of time for customer visits, tradeshows, and Channel Partner visits
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • 0-3 yrs experience as Application Engineering preferred
  • Strong emphasis on systems thinking and understanding of rotating equipment a plus.
  • Ability to respond with a strong sense of urgency and care to customer requests, inquiries, and problems
  • Ability to maintain positive and constructive relationships internally and externally, even under difficult circumstances
  • Interest in a future outside sales position preferred
