Executive Assistant - Leukemia
The Executive Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support within the Leukemia department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This role supports the Chairman's Office by coordinating complex administrative operations, managing executive calendars and travel, and ensuring accurate, timely communication across faculty, leadership, and external stakeholders. The Executive Administrative Assistant plays a key role in maintaining operational continuity and supporting departmental priorities within a highly specialized clinical and academic environment.
MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. Within the Leukemia department, the Executive Administrative Assistant supports executive leadership whose work directly advances patient care, scientific discovery, and academic excellence. The Executive Administrative Assistant role requires discretion, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-visibility setting.
The ideal candidate for the Executive Administrative Assistant role brings extensive experience supporting executive-level leadership, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex calendars, correspondence, and travel arrangements with accuracy and professionalism. A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with demonstrated administrative or secretarial experience in a complex organization and the ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize competing demands, and maintain confidentiality.
Salary Range: Minimum $53,000 - Midpoint $66,000 - Maximum $79,000

Responsibilities
Chair's Office Administrative Operations, Calendar, & Travel
• Coordinate all administrative activities within the Chairman's Office
• Provide administrative and operational support for a complex management component
• Open, review, and distribute all incoming and outgoing email and mail correspondence
• Coordinate the annual faculty evaluation and curriculum vitae process
• Answer phones, relay detailed messages, and place outgoing calls
• Greet, screen, and announce visitors as appropriate
• Establish priorities and deadlines for assigned projects
• Prepare meeting schedules and maintain current-year and long-term executive calendars
• Provide daily printed schedules of appointments
• Arrange airline reservations and hotel accommodations for executive travel
Representation of the Chairman
• Represent the Chairman or Administrative Staff in assigned or appropriate forums
• Provide information on behalf of the executive when appropriate
• Prepare and distribute announcements, agendas, and supporting materials for meetings
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and responsive demeanor
• Demonstrate credibility, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions
Documents, Reports, & Correspondence
• Perform basic word processing and written composition duties
• Complete institutional forms in accordance with standards and policy
• Transcribe recorded communications from Dictaphone or other audio or video sources
• Compose formal and informal correspondence
• Create and format manuscripts, protocols, and audiovisual presentations
• Proofread, format, and compile reports and related documentation
EDUCATION
  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: Six years Administrative/secretarial experience supporting a leadership/executive level position or Two years Required experience with Bachelor's degree.
