Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring phlebotomy and IV placement skills with night shift availability.

Details
  • Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a cardiac patient population
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Night shift patient ratios are 6–7:1, with potential stretch to 8–10:1 if staffing shortages occur
  • Day/evening patient ratios are 5:1, with potential stretch to 6–7:1
  • PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Floating within scope to similar units is required to meet facility needs
  • Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible but is not guaranteed
  • Epic EMR used; prior experience preferred
  • No on-call requirement
Requirements
  • Active NY RN license required (pending licensure not accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement skills are mandatory for all RNs at this facility
  • Experience with telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Proficiency with peripheral line care/management, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen delivery devices (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks) required
  • Familiarity with rapid response team protocols and isolation precautions required
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO is limited to no more than 1 week per 13-week contract; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
  • Navy and white scrubs (any combination) are required
