Lakeside Foods is seeking a skilled, hands‑on Foreperson, Canning to support operations at our New Richmond, WI facility. This role is ideal for an experienced manufacturing or industrial maintenance professional who enjoys leading people, working with equipment, and ensuring smooth, efficient production operations.

As the Canning Foreperson, you will supervise canning room personnel, support seasonal production employees, and maintain, repair, and monitor canning room machinery. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a safe workplace and the efficient flow of product through the fill and close process.

Our Foreperson, Canning Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to combine leadership, technical expertise, and problem‑solving in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. You’ll work closely with operations leadership while directly supporting equipment performance, employee safety, and production efficiency.

What You’ll Do

Operations & Equipment

  • Maintain, repair, and monitor all canning room machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure efficient flow of product through the fill and close process.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repairs within the assigned area.
  • Assist in assessing new equipment and ordering parts and supplies as needed.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and direct seasonal production employees in the canning room.
  • Train seasonal and full‑time employees in proper, safe, and efficient machine operation.
  • Monitor work practices and correct unsafe acts immediately.
  • Address minor personnel issues and escalate major concerns to management.

Seasonal & Off‑Season Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely startup of canning operations.
  • Participate in off‑season maintenance activities including equipment overhaul, installations, cleaning, painting, floor epoxy work, guarding, and facility improvements.
  • Support processing lead and maintenance duties throughout the plant as needed.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to and support Lakeside Foods’ Commitment to Safety policies.
  • Identify and report unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area at all times.
  • Participate in special projects and improvement teams as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • Two‑year technical certificate OR 3–5 years of related industrial, maintenance, or manufacturing experience (or equivalent combination).
  • Strong knowledge of canning room operations, equipment, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Ability to apply common‑sense problem‑solving in a production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with industrial maintenance.
  • Must possess a complete set of tools for industrial maintenance work.
