POSITION : Bayfront Convention Center Maintenance Technician
FACILITY: Bayfront Convention Center
REPORTS TO: Building and Grounds Superintendent
STATUS: Full Time / Non - Exempt
SALARY: $18.00-$26.00 per hour + Comprehensive Benefits Package
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bayfront Convention Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for the Maintenance Service Program at the Bayfront Convention Center and surrounding Campus Grounds. This program is a systematic, on-going maintenance program with the goal of sustaining a first-class physical facility for conventions, conferences and private events.
He/she must work closely with the Building and Grounds Superintendent to identify and achieve a superior level of building and grounds repairs.
He/she must possess the skill and dexterity to safely operate, repair equipment to include manual tools, power tools, etc.
He/she is expected to perform other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor.
What We're Looking For:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • The External Zone Maintenance Repair Technician must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and/or vocational/technical training.
  • Working knowledge of basic facility repairs - plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc.
  • He/she must be able to walk, climb, lift fifty pounds and have manual dexterity and motor coordination.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating first/second shifts
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and related equipment (training provided)
  • Experience with general repairs, custodial work, or event logistics is preferred
  • He/she must be capable of working unaided to complete the tasks assigned.
  • Must work well under pressure and strive to meet deadlines.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - JOB DESCRIPTION DETAIL:
  • Required to walk the property with the Building and Grounds Superintendent. Exterior zones include the Bayfront Convention Center, Courtyard Bayfront Hotel, Sheraton Bayfront Hotel and surrounding complex.
  • Must inspect and conduct on-site analyses of interior and exterior maintenance zones, providing insight into estimates of needed repairs, with expenses and conduct these renovations as needed.
  • Once a task is completed, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for initial and dating the zone schedule document, verifying completion of the assigned task.
  • Maintenance may include landscaping, plumbing, electrical and mechanical projects.
  • Maintain proper upkeep of equipment and its safe operation.
  • Responsible for snow removal and exterior winter maintenance of sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and other public access areas of the complex.
  • Responsible for independently managing and completing tasks outlined on Maintenance service schedule.
  • Assist Building and Grounds Department with larger maintenance projects at or within the Bayfront Convention Center, Courtyard Bayfront Hotel and/or Sheraton Bayfront Hotel.
  • Must complete work assignments in a timely manner and be neat, organized and strive for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilizes the resources of the ECCCA in the most efficient and effective ways possible.
  • Maintains close communication and works cooperatively with the Assistant Building and Grounds Superintendent and Building and Grounds Superintendent.
  • Maintains Bayfront Convention Center policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
