Crane Operator

Olive Recruiting is searching for a Crane Operator for our client in the Washington DC metropolitan area. This role is responsible for operating mobile hydraulic cranes and/or lattice boom cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. Responsibilities include adhering to safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and following direction from site supervision. Location: Washington DC metropolitan area/ Manassas, VA Full-time, direct hire with client Schedule: Variable pending project demands (standard hours are 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Union pay scale and benefits

Responsibilities:
  • Operates mobile hydraulic cranes (all-terrain, rough-terrain, hydraulic truck, boom truck) and/or lattice boom cranes (crawler and truck-mounted), with a Class A or B CDL.
  • Drive cranes to job sites, set up equipment, and ensure proper use of cribbing/matting per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Follow direction from riggers and site supervision to perform load movements safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on crane equipment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate logs in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
  • Ensure the safety of crane operations, including proper barricading of counterweight tail swing radius.
  • Operate equipment using verbal or hand signals, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in crane mobilization and demobilization, including assembly and disassembly tasks.
  • Maintain accurate job tickets for client acceptance and billing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of all required OSHA and industry-specific certifications.
  • Strong endurance and ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions.
  • Compliance with all OSHA, company, and project safety requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate cranes with a high degree of competence and alertness.
