As we continue to grow and add capabilities to our services, TAS is planning an expansion into full service avionics. We’re looking for a hands-on leader who reflects our Core Values, supports our technicians, and helps build a high‑performing avionics department from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, thrives in a fast‑paced maintenance environment, and takes ownership of both technical excellence and team culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily avionics operations — Support and guide avionics technicians in troubleshooting, installations, inspections, and repairs
  • Perform and oversee avionics work — Execute and supervise avionics installations, system integrations, and return‑to‑service testing
  • Ensure FAA & Part 145 compliance — Maintain strict adherence to regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and TAS quality procedures
  • Coordinate workflow and scheduling — Assign tasks, manage shop priorities, and ensure efficient project flow
  • Support customer communication — Assist with explaining findings, upgrade options, timelines, and technical recommendations
  • Maintain documentation accuracy — Ensure proper logbook entries, wiring diagrams, test results, and RTS paperwork
  • Mentor and develop technicians — Provide training, coaching, and skill development to build a strong avionics bench
  • Assist with complex troubleshooting — Provide technical guidance on advanced electrical and avionics system issues
  • Promote a safe, organized shop — Maintain a clean, safe, and professional avionics workspace
  • Help build TAS’s avionics program — Contribute to process development, administrative guidance, tooling needs, equipment planning, and long‑term department growth

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Avionics experience — 3–5+ years of hands‑on avionics troubleshooting, installation, and repair
  • Strong Garmin background — Experience with Garmin G1000/G600TXi/G5/GFC autopilot systems
  • Electrical systems proficiency — Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and perform system integrations
  • Leadership mindset — Ability to guide technicians, set standards, and support team culture
  • Willingness to relocate to Defiance, OH
  • Alignment with TAS Core Values

Preferred

  • A&P Certification (not required but highly beneficial)
  • Part 145 experience — Familiarity with repair station processes and documentation
  • Advanced Garmin or Avidyne training
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Autopilot installation experience — Garmin, S‑TEC, Genesys, etc.

Bonus Skills

  • Cessna Citation avionics experience
  • King Air or Conquest avionics experience
  • Custom panel fabrication
  • Customer service experience

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: $50+/hr depending on experience
  • Health Benefits: 100% employer‑paid medical coverage; optional dental & vision
  • Retirement: 401(k) with 6% company match, eligible first of the month after start
  • Growth environment: A supportive, high‑standards shop focused on technical excellence and an environment to grow in role and opportunity.
  • Impact: A role where your leadership, expertise, and craftsmanship truly matter
  • Relocation assistance for qualified candidates
