The Automotive Mechanic Senior will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic Senior mentors and oversees team member's technical deliverables to ensure Roush and customer standards are met. This position is located in Whittmann, AZ.
As an Automotive Mechanic Senior, you will be responsible for:
  • Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
  • Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
  • Read, interpret, and follow service procedures
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customers
  • Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Lead daily shop organization and clean-up

To be considered as an Automotive Mechanic Senior, you will need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience as a Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team and able to mentor and train others
  • Has own tools with rolling toolbox
  • Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures

A successful candidate may also have:
  • Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or
    weekends to support test track scheduling
  • Proven ability to perform advanced vehicle diagnostics and troubleshoot complex
    electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Working knowledge of vehicle systems including electrical, embedded control systems,
    drivetrain, suspension, tires/wheels, and general mechanical repair
  • High-Voltage Safety Certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • State Mechanic Certification(s)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers
