Job description

The School of Health and Human Sciences invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment in Medical-Surgical Nursing and Geriatrics. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and will be responsible for providing classroom and clinical instruction, as well as participating in activities that support the education and development of nursing students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:
Classroom Responsibilities:
  1. Complies with all rules and regulations for CUI faculty (see University Policies and University Faculty Handbook).
  2. Develops and revises course syllabi and handouts.
  3. Verifies Banner list and student enrollment.
  4. Utilizes audio visuals that enhance student learning.
  5. Is responsible for advising students regarding course work and progress.
  6. Provides written or verbal feedback on students learning assignments.
  7. Participates in yearly evaluations in order to maintain teaching effectiveness and program outcome evaluation.
  8. Maintains records related to student grades, advisement and student progress.
  9. Takes responsibility for orienting self to CUI, policies and procedures.
  10. Actively participates in the Department of Nursing Committees and other campus committees as assigned.
  11. Assists in orientation and mentoring of new faculty members.
  12. Participates in professional and community activities and organizations.
  13. Follows the grading policy of the Nursing Department.
  14. Monitors the maintenance of the physical properties assigned to the Department such as the nursing skills lab equipment, the nursing offices, and computers.
  15. Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  16. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for students.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  1. Communication with Clinical Coordinator and Course Coordinator for facility orientation.
  2. Understands CUI's student policies and procedures for clinical performance and clinical site requirements.
  3. Verifies Banner list and student enrollment.
  4. Orients self and students to each clinical site
  5. Maintains communications with clinical agencies and the agency health care team.
  6. Updates self on clinical practice and knowledge.
  7. Plans students learning assignment in the clinical setting.
  8. Communicates with students throughout the clinical learning experience and focuses on each student during pre and post conference.
  9. Evaluates each student's clinical performance and apprises student of progress.
  10. Completes midterm and final student evaluations.
  11. Reviews theory content that student is currently studying.
  12. Evaluates student's written or verbal plan of care.
  13. Communicates clearly with the health care team members the responsibilities of the nursing students for the clinical day.
  14. Evaluates and grades all assigned clinical projects, papers, or presentations.
  15. Communicates with the clinical coordinator and course coordinator any student concerns or questions.
  16. Provides frequent feedback to students on their clinical performance with weekly clinical notes.
  17. Evaluate clinical facility at the end of the semester.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $120,000/yr
