Job description

Are you an animal lover with extensive hands-on experience in animal care? Do you thrive in fast-paced, emotionally charged environments? If so, we want you to be a part of our mission to improve the lives of animals as an Assistant Animal Health Technician / Exam Room Assistant in our Adoption Center!
About the Role: The exam room is the heart of our shelter, where animals receive their first point of care. As an Assistant Animal Health Technician / Exam Room Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring each animal's health and well-being. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Administering medications and vaccines with precision and care
  • Skillfully restraining animals for various medical procedures
  • Cleaning and sanitizing cages, runs, floors, and rooms to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Providing basic daily necessities and compassionate care to our furry friends

What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate will have:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of hands-on animal handling experience, preferably in veterinary or shelter settings
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure in emotionally challenging situations
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Strong internal customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant
  • Experience with animal health and wellness exams, including vaccinations and bloodwork
  • Familiarity with shelter medicine protocols and procedures
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Compassion and empathy towards animals and their owners
