What You Will Do:

  • Develop, deploy, and support world‑class lifing systems and structural analysis tools that enable safe, reliable engine designs.

  • Lead analysis, research, and specification development across metallic, composite, and non‑metallic structural materials used in engine design and operation.

  • Perform and guide advanced structural evaluations including damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, dynamics & loads, stress fatigue, thermal analysis, and fracture mechanics.

  • Provide expert vibration, aeromechanics, fatigue, fracture, probabilistic, and HCF capability guidance to internal teams and external customers.

  • Lead pre‑ and post‑test data processing, interpret results, and drive technical recommendations.

  • Develop and implement new structural engineering methods, tools, and process improvements with measurable impact on engineering quality and efficiency.

  • Direct moderately to large projects or workstreams requiring deep cross‑functional integration.

  • Serve as a technical authority, mentor, and reviewer for early career engineers, ensuring adherence to high analytical and documentation standards.

  • Represent the organization in technical discussions with customers, vendors, and executive leadership.

  • Contribute significantly to engineering standard work, best practices, training materials, and continuous improvement (CORE/AS9100) activities.

What You Will Learn:

  • Advanced OEM‑level lifing and structural integrity methodologies across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, or related engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Advanced degree and 7+ years of experience.

  • US Citizenship (required due to government programs).

  • Recognized ability to make technically sound, well‑reasoned engineering decisions and clearly communicate their rationale.

  • Demonstrated motivation, initiative, and ownership of complex engineering tasks requiring broad technical integration.

  • Proven ability to operate independently, setting direction for analyses, tools, and workflows with minimal oversight.

  • Demonstrated capability to manage and lead multiple priorities, projects, and technical teams simultaneously while maintaining high quality and clarity.

  • Ability to solve complex, undefined problems through deep investigation, conceptual reasoning, and synthesis of best practices.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Considered a subject‑matter expert in fatigue, fracture mechanics, dynamics, aeromechanics, or structural lifing methods.

  • Experience developing new structural analysis tools or processes with enterprise‑wide impact.

  • Strong proficiency in ANSYS or similar FEA tools, and scripting experience (Python/MATLAB) for automation or tool development.

  • Experience leading large cross‑functional engineering efforts or customer‑facing technical engagements.

  • Ability to mentor and coach a variety of engineering teams and establish high standards for technical rigor.

  • Demonstrated success improving or reinventing engineering processes, standard work, or methodologies.

This role is:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
