Position Summary

To provide Reliability Engineering assistance to Maintenance Managers and Maintenance Planners to maintain and improve plant facilities, equipment and operations. This role will be located onsite at one of our plant locations (VT/MA/NY) with travel as needed.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide “expert” troubleshooting assistance as required to Maintenance and Plant Services personnel.
  • Share in project implementation. Control quality, duration, cost and thoroughness of all project work.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping and safe work practices are followed. Instructs crews in proper equipment usage whenever appropriate.
  • Initiate cost-effective changes/modifications and updates to plant facilities and machinery.
  • Provide Reliability Engineering assistance to Plant Leadership to maintain and improve plant facilities, equipment and operations.
  • Provide necessary new or revised tooling, equipment, and facilities drawings, schematics and documents are maintained in electronic files.
  • Provide training to maintenance personnel on production equipment and plant equipment such as ammonia and steam systems, HVAC systems, fire and security systems and process systems. Training to be both classroom and on-the-job.
  • Assist mechanics with machine shop activities, including alternate sourcing (in-house or outside shop) to reduce parts costs on repair parts normally bought from OEM suppliers.
  • Participate in maintenance excellence process to facilitate action plans that will improve the organization’s ability to reduce operating costs and improve reliability.
  • Participate in investigation, development and implementation of all new capital equipment and assist Maintenance Manager with major modifications of existing equipment and processes.
  • Assist in improving readiness of drawing files for maintenance use.
  • Support the development of teams to improve problem solving and job development.
  • Review computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) equipment history data and production downtime data to accumulate, trend, and analyze performance data. Modify collection procedures and codes to ensure capture is complete, coordinating with maintenance supervision, and production management on any system changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA Equipment Failure Analysis) on high-cost failures, high-downtime situations, and selected minor repetitive downtime situations in order to identify options for engineering solutions.
  • Review planned preventative maintenance (PPM) data vs. equipment histories to identify tasks that need adjustment to frequencies or task details.
  • Determine/review equipment lubrication requirements, methods, and frequencies to optimize equipment and component operating life.
  • Participate in development of predictive maintenance analysis techniques including vibration analysis, infrared scans, corrosion analysis, and fatigue rate analysis.
  • Conduct analysis of spare parts program to increase level of standardization and interchangeability.
  • Assist in analyzing work productivity of maintenance personnel to ensure proper focus on continuing improvement; included will be work sampling.
  • Conduct analyses of equipment history data that will facilitate root cause analysis on equipment failures and production downtime to assure continuing improvement in plant reliability.
  • Conduct life-cycle cost analysis on high-cost components and spare parts.
  • Actively support plant continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide indirect supervision/direction to preventive/predictive maintenance personnel as well as other support personnel in the department, to refine the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensure reliability of equipment, processes, facilities and other system.
  • Continually search for ways to eliminate maintenance work and to lengthen mean time between failures (MTBF).
  • Promote Safety and Quality.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Develop and implement new systems and procedures.
  • Utilizing Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), assist in the design of new equipment to preventively address production, quality and safety risks while recommending effective error-proofing techniques.
  • For new equipment purchases, manage effective Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure performance capabilities, utilizing statistical process control and setting required KPI goals.
  • Utilize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies to drive maintenance excellence.
  • Utilizing Failure Mode & Effects Analysis  (FMEA), analyze processes, identify potential failure modes and implement actions to mitigate risk.
  • Measure continuous improvements to equipment reliability with KPI’s, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time to Repair (MTR), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Preventive Maintenance Effectiveness.
  • Leverage visual management tools and techniques to identify and respond to issues real time.
  • Deliver ongoing cost savings to the organization.
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Job Specific Skills:

  • Professional Contacts/Relationships within and outside Agri-Mark - The Reliability Engineer’s job requires extensive and continual communication with a large number of people, both inside and outside the plants. It is necessary for the Reliability Engineer to have a good background in business management techniques in the areas of planning, organizing, scheduling and directing.
  • Position Training Expectations - Attend Agri-Mark specific training in safety and management; Training in Maintenance Connection (CMMS); Training on Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD; Training in Electrical, Controls & Refrigeration.
  • Physical Requirements - Move objects of up to 40 lbs; Position self to designated working area; Operate standard office equipment; Communicate effectively with fellow employees and clients; Assess daily tasks and achieve them in a timely manner.
  • Please be ok with our environment- as time spent in the plant will involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.

Salary range is: $90,000-$110,000

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses based upon individual and company performance.
