Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Person is a critical "working supervisor" role responsible for bridging the gap between management and frontline operations. The primary objective is to ensure safe, efficient production at plant or quarry operations by planning, organizing, and directing the daily work assignments of the assigned team.
This individual acts as a steward to Martin Marietta's "Guardian Angel" safety culture, ensuring that all teammates adhere to MSHA/OSHA regulations while meeting production quotas. You will spend most of your time in the field, operating equipment alongside your team while simultaneously monitoring mechanical performance, housekeeping standards, and safety compliance.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement and enforce all federal (MSHA/OSHA), state, and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate daily production shifts, ensuring equipment is utilized effectively to meet output goals and product quality standards.
  • Lead the plant safety committee and implement all federal (MSHA/OSHA), state, and local safety regulations.
  • Assist in training new hires, provide input for annual performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary actions or commendations to management.
  • Perform regular inspections of plant equipment for mechanical issues. Work with the maintenance team to schedule preventative maintenance and assist with repairs as needed.
  • Accurately complete daily production, safety, and maintenance logs. Assist management in developing mining plans, profit plans, and monthly forecasts.
  • Operate mobile equipment (loaders, dozers, haul trucks) and perform manual tasks (shoveling, sweeping, plant cleaning) to maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Assist the Plant Manager and Production Supervisor in developing mining plans, profit plans, and monthly production forecasts.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of all aggregates, cement, or asphalt products to ensure they meet customer and regulatory specifications.
  • Identify and recommend operational efficiencies to maximize production while minimizing waste and downtime.

The base range for this position is $26.00-$40.00 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity. In addition to our base compensation, we also offer a competitive benefits package for full time employees (more information on benefits listed below).
At Martin Marietta, we offer a variety of benefits, depending on union classification which could include medical, dental and vision coverage; prescription drug coverage; health savings accounts; flexible spending accounts; life, AD&D and disability insurance; 401(k) with a company match and an employer-funded defined benefit pension plan. Other benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, education/tuition assistance, an employee discount program, adoption assistance, wellness programs and more.
Part time employees are eligible to participate in the 401k plan and receive a company match. In addition, they are eligible to start accruing service for the pension plan.
