What is an assistant aesthetic nurse injector?

Assistant Aesthetic Nurse Injectors are registered nurses or nurse practitioners who specialize in administering cosmetic injections such as Botox, dermal fillers, and other non-surgical aesthetic treatments under the supervision of a licensed medical professional. They play a key role in patient assessment, treatment planning, and post-procedure care to ensure safe and effective results. These nurses often work in medical spas, dermatology clinics, or plastic surgery offices, and require specialized training and certification to perform injection procedures safely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant aesthetic nurse injector?

To thrive as an Assistant Aesthetic Nurse Injector, you need a nursing degree (RN or higher), state licensure, and a solid understanding of facial anatomy and cosmetic procedures. Proficiency with injection techniques, familiarity with dermal fillers, neuromodulators, and use of medical-grade skincare systems are typically required, with certifications in aesthetic nursing highly valued. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and a strong sense of empathy are crucial soft skills for building trust with clients and ensuring satisfaction. These competencies are vital for delivering safe, effective treatments and fostering client loyalty in a competitive aesthetic industry.

Job description

Part-Time Aesthetic Injector(RN or APRN)

We're hiring a part-time dual-scope provider to deliver both injectable and laser services. This is a full-menu clinical role — you'll carry your own treatment schedule, own the consultation-to-outcome relationship with your clients, and build combination treatment plans that pair injectables with energy-based modalities. This position is 10-20 hours per week, scheduled on a set rotation that includes weekend and evening coverage.

Injectable Responsibilities

  • Perform neurotoxin injections (Botox, Dysport, or equivalent) for glabellar, frontalis, orbicularis oculi, and additional approved treatment areas
  • Perform dermal filler injections for midface, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips, chin, and jawline per approved scope
  • Conduct facial assessment and aesthetic analysis; develop full-face treatment plans rather than single-area fixes
  • Review medical history, screen for contraindications, and confirm candidacy prior to every treatment
  • Ensure a valid Good Faith Examination is completed and documented before treatment, in person or via our telehealth platform
  • Document all injectable treatments completely: product, lot number, expiration, units or volume, injection sites, and technique
  • Recognize and respond to injectable complications, including vascular occlusion protocol, and escalate per clinic policy
  • Manage product handling, reconstitution where applicable, storage, and waste documentation
  • Conduct follow-up assessments and touch-up visits within protocol windows

Laser and Energy-Based Responsibilities

  • Perform non-ablative cosmetic laser and light-based treatments including laser hair removal, IPL/BBL photofacial, and non-ablative skin resurfacing
  • Operate additional energy-based devices on the Buford menu, including [CoolSculpting, CoolTone, microneedling, DiamondGlow]
  • Assess skin type and Fitzpatrick classification and select appropriate settings and endpoints
  • Perform test spots and patch testing where protocol requires
  • Select and document device parameters for every treatment — fluence, pulse duration, spot size, cooling, and passes
  • Build multi-session treatment plans with appropriate series length and maintenance intervals
  • Maintain laser safety compliance: eyewear protocols, controlled-area signage, key control, and device logs
  • Perform routine device checks and coordinate service calls as needed

Shared Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide clear pre- and post-treatment instructions and manage follow-up
  • Complete accurate charting in Zenoti at the point of care, including consents, standardized photography, and treatment records
  • Maintain treatment room readiness, inventory accuracy, and infection control standards
  • Support client retention through appropriate rebooking, series completion, and membership enrollment
  • Recommend appropriate medical-grade skincare to support clinical outcomes
  • Participate in required team meetings, device trainings, and continuing education

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Physician Assistant
  • Current Senior Laser Practitioner license or eligibility with licensure completed prior to performing laser services
  • Minimum three years of clinical or medical experience
  • Documented training and demonstrated competency in neurotoxin and dermal filler injection
  • Demonstrated competency with laser and IPL platforms
  • Availability to work the full scheduled rotation, including [weekends]
  • Strong documentation habits and comfort working in an EMR/practice management system
  • Professional presentation and the interpersonal skill to build long-term client relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years injecting in a medical spa or aesthetic practice
  • Advanced injectable training (lip technique, jawline and chin contouring, temple, or full-face)
  • Experience with Sculptra, Kybella, or biostimulators
  • Familiarity with Zenoti
  • Experience with body contouring devices
  • Track record of strong client retention and rebooking

Compensation and Benefits

  • Commensurate with experience and scope of competency
  • Productivity bonus opportunity
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with applicable law
  • Employee pricing on treatments and products
  • Paid training on clinic devices, injectable protocols, and product lines
  • Consistent, published schedule with advance notice of shifts
