Job Description

Ameritas is looking for our next Assistant Actuary to join our Corporate Actuarial Projections team. This position is a department subject matter expert on actuarial model use cases. This detail-oriented, results-driven individual will have good knowledge of industry practices and standards and ability to deliver on any assigned responsibilities. This position is essential for the company's management of risk and to assure the appropriate level of profitability and compliance. This position is responsible for providing actionable information that enables good business decisions along with designing and managing project initiatives and business processes within job area.

This role could be hybrid (Lincoln, NE / Cincinnati, OH) or remote based on proximity to an office location.

What you do

  • Run and analyze certain recurring actuarial model use cases such as Asset Liability Management, Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA) compliance, Cash Flow Testing, Risk Based Capital, Liquidity Testing, and Financial Forecasting.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver timely model results and analysis that will support management's ability to make strategic decisions.
  • Perform and document both dynamic and static validations (analysis of change and results, policy audits, initial values).
  • Identify and support any process improvements.
  • Support the Prophet model development life cycle, adhering to Model Risk Management policies and procedures.
  • Compile and analyze data, using statistical formulas and other actuarial methods.
  • Set up, test, validate and maintain actuarial models for the specified actuarial use cases.
  • Help implement procedures to comply with new regulatory, control or governance requirements.
  • Respond to requests for information from actuaries, accountants, auditors, management and other associates, as well as external stakeholders, providing actuarial analysis where appropriate.
  • Provide guidance, training and peer review for other actuarial associates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization on business initiatives.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field required.
  • 3-5+ years of actuarial modeling experience, preferably with indexed life and/or annuity with living benefit experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance products and concepts, actuarial theory and techniques, and regulation of the insurance industry required.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities to produce high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Ability to accurately perform detailed calculations with a high-level of understanding required.
  • Ability to clearly and thoroughly document assumptions, decisions, processes, and other work performed required.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team required.
  • Prophet software knowledge strongly desired. SQL experience is beneficial and useful.
  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation desired. Member of the American Academy of Actuaries desired.

The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
