Job Summary
Carabell Leslie & Company LLC, a full-service public accounting firm with over 60 years of trusted service in the Detroit Metro area, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team.
This role offers hands-on exposure to tax, financial reporting, and client advisory services in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-oriented, and eager to develop professionally within a firm that values modernization, efficiency, and long-term relationships.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements, tax returns (individual and business), and supporting workpapers
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Perform general ledger, bank, and account reconciliations
  • Support compilation and review engagements by preparing required documentation
  • Assist with tax planning and compliance activities
  • Work directly with clients to maintain accurate financial records and provide advisory support
  • Maintain and update accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online and Desktop
  • Utilize UltraTax and Accounting CS for tax preparation and reporting
  • Stay current with GAAP, tax law changes, and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to firm process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and modernization initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in UltraTax, Accounting CS, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), and Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with tax preparation strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
