With a strong reputation, dedicated leadership team, and meaningful mission, the organization continues to invest in its people, technology, and financial operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to broaden their experience, work directly with senior leadership, and continue developing their career. Schedule: 4 days in office / 1 day remote

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the Finance team, supporting accounting, financial reporting, payroll, cash management, operational finance, audit activities, and process improvement. This role offers considerably more exposure than a traditional transactional accounting position and will work closely with the CFO and other organizational leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual transactions, variances, and reconciliation differences.
  • Assist with financial and management reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, and departmental reporting.
  • Support payroll processing, reconciliations, employee changes, benefits deductions, and related administrative requirements.
  • Manage and reconcile cash, banking, accounts receivable, revenue, and other balance sheet activity.
  • Assist with restricted funds, grants, and related accounting and reporting.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual financial statement audit and year-end reporting.
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and other Finance functions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to research financial issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Help strengthen internal controls, documentation, workflows, and accounting procedures.
  • Participate in financial system improvements, automation, and integration initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, reduce manual processes, and provide better financial information to leadership.
  • Support special projects and additional financial analysis for the CFO.

For immediate and confidential consideration please call Jeff Sokolowski directly at (248)365-6131 or apply today.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting or financial operations experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Experience with payroll, nonprofit accounting, ERP systems, grants, or restricted funds is beneficial.
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
