Position Overview


Creative Retail Packaging is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the Controller in managing the company's accounting operations and financial reporting processes.

This position will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting monthly financial reporting, managing journal entries and reconciliations, assisting with the close process, and helping develop accounting procedures and controls. The role will also serve as a resource for the accounting team by reviewing work, providing training, and helping ensure consistency and accuracy across accounting processes.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, enjoys improving processes, communicates effectively with both financial and non-financial employees, and is looking to grow within a dynamic business environment.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Close & General Accounting


  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and financial analysis.


Financial Reporting


  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reporting packages.
  • Support bank reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by leadership.


Team Support & Development


  • Review accounting transactions prepared by accounting staff.
  • Serve as the primary accounting resource for day-to-day accounting questions.
  • Train and mentor team members on accounting procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain and update accounting procedures and process documentation.
  • Promote consistency, accuracy, and accountability within accounting processes.


Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Support


  • Assist with complex customer billing, collections, and vendor-related matters.
  • Review selected AR and AP transactions for proper accounting treatment.
  • Support cash application and cash management processes.
  • Help resolve transaction coding and reconciliation issues.


Systems & Process Improvement


  • Support administration and optimization of NetSuite ERP.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows.
  • Assist with implementation of process improvements and internal controls.
  • Participate in ERP enhancements and reporting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, and management teams to improve financial visibility and business processes.


Compliance & Documentation


  • Support tax-related reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • NetSuite ERP experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Experience participating in month-end close activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or product-based industries.
  • Experience training or mentoring accounting team members.
