Job description

The Asset Protection Manager drives store shortage reduction, safety, and profitability improvement by developing and executing asset protection action plans. This role drives process improvement and ensures effective compliance of strategies, procedures, and policies. The Asset Protection Manager embodies the values of the Asset Protection Mission Statement by protecting the company's profitability, serving as a change agent, and promoting a store culture of teamwork, collaboration, trust, and accountability. This is an exempt position, with monthly bonus eligibility.
What you will do

  • Demonstrate a high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative in achieving store objectives and driving the accomplishment of key metrics, sales, and profit goals.
  • Drive proactive shortage reduction and improve profitability by identifying and preventing incidents of theft, fraud, and dishonesty and leading accurate inventory execution. Manage store education, understanding, adoption, and compliance of company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee investigations of internal, external, and organized retail crime incidents in accordance with case procedures, company standards, and applicable laws. Ensure apprehensions follow proper protocol and incidents are accurately documented and reported. Foster strong working relationships with local law enforcement to support collaboration and successful case resolution.
  • Lead team in providing a safe and healthy environment for associates and customers through implementation of safety and risk management processes and procedures. Ensure store systems are working properly and promptly report any outages, risks, or safety concerns.
  • Reinforce team application of asset protection, emergency response, and safety programs by regularly reviewing associate performance, conducting meaningful coaching conversations, and embracing opportunities to continuously teach and develop.
  • Set clear team priorities and communicate expectations, modeling behaviors that support store results and company objectives.
  • Participate in weekly leadership workload planning meetings to ensure asset protection, safety, and inventory tasks are prepped, planned, and scheduled, while ensuring the execution plan aligns with company priorities and processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality, safeguard sensitive information, and demonstrate composure, understanding the importance to business continuity and investigations.
  • Facilitate team career development conversations to ensure ready-now bench of store talent. Champion retention and engagement through recognizing associate value and contributions.
  • Ensure hiring strategy is in place to fill open positions timely through recruitment and interviewing. Oversee structured onboarding completion to ensure associate readiness in delivering operational and asset protection excellence.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to successfully apply analytics, experience, and judgement to make timely and effective business, people, and profitability decisions.

  • Ability to develop others through mentorship, effective communication, and side-by-side coaching.
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Comfortable with technology, including smartphones, tablet computers and Windows-based operating systems.
  • 1-3 years of Asset Protection experience
  • Available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must regularly move around all store areas and be accessible to customers.
  • Must bend, reach, stretch for product as well as lift, carry, and move at least 40 lbs.
  • Experience investigating organized retail crime is preferred.
  • Understanding of general and civil liability.
