Job description

Overview
At Coborn's, Inc., protecting our people, customers, and business is about more than preventing loss - it's about creating safe, welcoming environments where our teams can do their best work. As an Asset Protection Specialist, you'll play an important role in identifying potential loss and safety concerns, responding to guest-related incidents, and helping protect the resources that support our stores and communities.
This is a hands-on, investigative role for someone observant, confident, and comfortable making sound decisions. You'll use available data, technology, and resources to identify theft, property damage, trespassing, and other potential risks while partnering with store teams, Asset Protection, management, and law enforcement when appropriate.
If you enjoy investigating, solving problems, working with people, and making a meaningful impact, this could be the opportunity for you.
What You'll Do
As an Asset Protection Specialist, your primary focus will be supporting efforts to prevent, identify, and manage shrink and safety concerns across Coborn's-owned locations. While much of your work will focus on external or guest-related activity, you'll also collaborate with the broader Asset Protection team to support additional investigations and initiatives.
Loss Prevention & Safety
  • Utilize available data, technology, and resources to identify, investigate, and manage guest-related loss and safety concerns.
  • Identify and respond to potential theft, property damage, trespassing, and other activities that could negatively impact our people, customers, or business.
  • Take appropriate action in accordance with established Asset Protection policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Help maintain safe and secure environments for our Employee Owners and guests.
  • Recognize trends or recurring concerns and communicate findings to appropriate leadership.

Partnership & Incident Response
  • Interact professionally with associates and guests while supporting the company's goals of reducing loss and maintaining safe work environments.
  • Partner with store leadership and fellow Asset Protection professionals to address incidents and identify appropriate next steps.
  • Assist other Asset Protection team members with investigations by gathering, reviewing, organizing, and preparing information, data, and evidence.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to store teams regarding Asset Protection practices and procedures.

Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident and investigation reports.
  • Gather and maintain supporting documentation and evidence related to Asset Protection matters.
  • Submit appropriate reports and supporting information to management and/or law enforcement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information and investigations.

What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who can balance strong observation and investigative skills with professionalism and sound judgment. You'll be successful in this role if you bring:
  • Strong observation, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize suspicious activity, safety concerns, and potential loss.
  • Confidence interacting professionally with a variety of individuals, including guests, associates, leadership, and law enforcement.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and detailed reports.
  • Ability to gather, review, and organize information and evidence accurately.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with store teams and other Asset Protection professionals.
  • Commitment to representing Coborn's vision, mission, core values, and employee ownership culture in every interaction.
