Asset Integrity Project Manager


Cognascents is looking for an Asset Integrity Project Manager. We're looking for an experienced integrity engineer who can own mechanical integrity and risk-based inspection (RBI) projects end to end while carrying technical authority for the work product. A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, is required. This role is based in Houston, TX.


Who You'll Work With


You will work with a team of asset integrity engineers and specialists delivering mechanical integrity, RBI, and reliability work to clients across refining, petrochemicals, LNG, midstream, and industrial facilities. Your work will adhere to industry standards and best practices, including applicable API, ASME, and related inspection and pressure-equipment codes.


You will work directly with Cognascents' process safety, mechanical integrity, and engineering leadership teams, owning both the delivery and the technical correctness of every deliverable your team issues. You are the technical authority on the product and the last set of eyes before it reaches the client.

About the Role


You will own the delivery and technical integrity of Cognascents' mechanical integrity and RBI engagements โ€” running projects end to end and standing behind the work product as the technical authority. Your work directly shapes how our integrity engineers and specialists deliver asset integrity solutions to clients across the Gulf Coast and beyond. Day-to-day work spans project execution, inspection-campaign oversight, and RBI, within Cognascents' AI-accelerated, human-led consulting model.


Key Responsibilities


  • Run mechanical integrity and RBI project execution end to end โ€” owning scope, schedule, budget, and the quality of every deliverable
  • Own the day-to-day client delivery relationship and serve as the technical point of contact for the engagement
  • Provide technical sign-off on MI and RBI work products, enforcing the firm's senior-review standard before any deliverable is issued
  • Own the technical correctness of API 510, 570, 653, 580, 581, and 571 deliverables, connecting damage mechanisms to inspection strategy and RBI planning
  • Direct the execution and quality of inspection teams performing the work scope, ensuring compliance with applicable API, ASME, and jurisdictional codes
  • Manage project resourcing and utilization across the assigned team, and protect margin on every active project
  • Identify scope variances early, document them, and convert them into signed change orders
  • Support scoping, estimating, and proposal development for new engagements, and participate in client relationship and account-growth conversations
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers โ€” transferring technical judgment, giving direct feedback, and scaling quality across the team
  • Verify all AI-accelerated output before it reaches the review gate, holding it to the firm's 100% senior-review standard


Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 6 or more years of asset integrity, mechanical integrity, or reliability engineering experience across upstream, midstream, refining, petrochemicals, or LNG operations
  • Demonstrated project delivery ownership in a client-facing or consulting setting โ€” scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Proficiency in applicable API, ASME, and related inspection and pressure-equipment codes
  • Working command of API inspection and RBI methodology (510, 570, 653, 580, 581)
  • Proficiency in inspection, integrity engineering, and pressure-equipment design or related mechanical engineering topics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills, and a clear communicator across both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States


Preferred (Not Required)


  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward one
  • Certification as an API 510 and/or API 570 Inspector
  • Additional certifications in API or ASNT
  • Experience building or managing RBI programs and mechanical integrity management systems
  • Familiarity with AI-accelerated engineering workflows and a willingness to work within them


Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to client sites anticipated. Primarily on-site at Cognascents Houston headquarters.
