Job description

As a Machine Operator I, generally you will set up and operate production machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. You will adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. You will be required to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics to select, position, and secure machinery. You will operate saws, press brakes, various hand tools, forklift and other fabrication machinery as needed. You will assist in a variety of functions that involve these duties. The duties of this position will change according to the day to day needs of Kooler Ice management and production needs and processes, and so requires the individual to be versatile and adaptable in addition to being physically able to perform the necessary tasks.

The position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and may require the completion of an apprenticeship or formal training in an area of specialty.  You should have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within this field and have 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Measurement skill is required to 1/32 inch. Math skills are needed to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

You will work under general supervision and will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines, as well as your experience and judgment, to perform the functions of your job.  Your job functions may include other duties including driving a service or delivery truck or lift truck, for which proof of a valid driver’s license or forklift training is required, and must be maintained at all times.  Employment, and continuation of your employment, may be dependent upon satisfying this requirement of the position.
