Role: Assembly Technician

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range: $71,000 - $80,000 + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

Seasats has built a rapidly growing fleet of boats, and we only plan to accelerate from here. To help us hit ambitious production goals, we are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Assembly Technician to join our team. As an integral member of our assembly team, you will work hands-on to assemble, test and install components for our boats. Your attention to detail, proficiency with tools, and ability to troubleshoot will play a key role in ensuring the high standards of quality and performance that Seasats is known for.

Role Details:

You'll work in our San Diego facilities, collaborating with our mechanical and electrical teams to take components from each department and transform them into complete, high-quality, and reliable products. Day-to-day, you will:

  • Assemble, inspect, test and install mechanical and electrical components for Lightfish (and potentially future products), following detailed technical drawings and assembly instructions
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble systems and sub-systems
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure efficient and safe assembly operations
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify and solve assembly-related issues
  • Conduct routine inspections and quality control checks to ensure components meet high standards
  • Document assembly procedures, test results, and any discrepancies encountered during the assembly process
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving assembly issues as they arise
  • Continuously improve assembly processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors
  • Utilize a manufacturing execution system to ensure traceability of parts and inventory

About You:

You are a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in busy environments. You have proven experience in an assembly or mechanical technician role, and you're skilled using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment. Additionally, you have:

  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
  • Experience with composites or fine carpentry (preferred but not essential)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical assembly and testing procedures
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and documentation
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Organization and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

About Seasats:

At Seasats, we're passionate about delivering maritime robotics solutions to redefine the maritime industry. Our primary products are unmanned surface vessels (USVs), designed to carry sensors at sea for months at a time. Our USVs provide persistent monitoring and data acquisition to defense, scientific, and commercial customers, and have autonomously crossed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. After thousands of years in which the only way to gather information from the ocean was to put people on a boat, these uncrewed vessels are transforming how humanity monitors and interacts with the ocean. Here, you'll find the space and opportunity to do your life's best work.

Along with your salary, you'll receive perks including:

  • Competitive insurance (including a 99% employer-covered Gold HMO plan or other options)
  • 401k matching up to 4% of salary
  • Four free lunches per week
  • An employee activity fund
  • A pet-friendly office
  • Unlimited/Flex PTO

Hiring Notes:

When applying, you'll be asked to provide a resume and answer a few screening questions.
