Summary:

The EMC Assembly Technician is responsible to investigate product, test, and process issues that arise during manufacturing. Troubleshoot products, evaluate Returned Material, drive corrective actions, and support the manufacturing plant to meet key Metrics.ย 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain equipment, instruments, and any apparatus required for quality control inspection. Perform maintenance troubleshooting and re-calibration of plant test equipment, fixtures, and all master gages according to schedule.ย 
  • Assist Supervisor and lines in the investigation of quality related problems involving disassembly or assembly, analyzing, testing and documentation.ย 
  • Investigate and document proposals for quality improvements or enhancements that lead to an improved quality level of factory performance.ย 
  • Assist Supervisor and quality in the determination of usability or non-usability of non-conforming material at incoming inspection.ย 
  • Provides general technical support and training for production personnel.ย 
  • Provides timely and quality services and support to all internal and external customers. Independently seeks and identifies problems and constraints affecting plant objectives.ย 
  • Develops creative and effective solutions for opportunities identified.ย 
  • Assists in upkeep of plant documentation systems (Routings, BOMs, tool and calibration logs, etc.)ย 
  • Work on other projects as assigned by the Supervisor, performing the necessary investigation and study to bring the projects to successful completion.ย 
  • Maintains an effective dialogue with all employees to foster good employee morale.ย 


Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):

  • Support equipment and prevent down time to meet On Time Delivery Goal of 98.9%.ย 
  • Find cost reducing components and equipment to enable the plant to operate at or below budget.ย 
  • Repair and improve existing equipment to prevent defective product from shipping to achieve Assembly Warranty return rate of = 0.20%.ย 
  • Drive/demonstrate safe behaviors to meet or exceed the plant's OSHA recordable incident rate. All accidents can be prevented.ย 
  • Provide production support to achieve Assembly FPY of = 95.0%.ย 

Requirements

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • A two-year technical degree in electrical/mechanical technology or a minimum of 5 years of related education and practical experience is required.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of electronic schematics, measuring instruments, gages and meters.
  • Ability to understand or determine engineering design concepts and intentions in addition to literal written specifications.ย 
  • Capable of working independently with little direct supervision. Possess organizational and planning ability.ย 
  • Practical work/educational experience with computers: word processing and spreadsheets. Additionally, CAD skills are beneficial.ย 

Physical/Mental Essential Functions:

  • Occasional travel to corporate site in Michigan City, IN.ย 
  • General understanding/usage of Google mail, sheets, and docs.ย 
  • Lifting of equipment, frequent standing and bending.ย 

Work Conditions:

  • Work in a plant environment. Some areas are narrow and difficult to maneuver.ย ย
