Job description

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Senior Assembler position is to accurately perform tasks according to work instructions that are related to the assembly of standard SMC product and simple to complex. This position will also require providing feedback for improvement to SMC management and assist in the training of established processes with less experienced assembly positions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • The senior assembler is responsible for following standardized work procedures, work sequence, and will complete the following tasks for their role:
    • Verify: read and follow standard and special SMC blueprints and assembly instructions to determine that finished product part number on the order matches the assembly parts.
    • Assemble: use power tools and machines to assemble final SMC product. Candidate must be able to assemble any standard or special SMC product within the value stream. This process will be repeated for each of the day’s assignments.
    • Braze:  Chiller Assembly requires metal brazing of joints.  Training will be provided to perform this task.
    • Refrigerant filling:  Chiller Assembly requires the filling of refrigerants.  EPA 608 certification is required for the handling of refrigerants.  SMC will provide on the job training for this certification.
    • Test and Inspect: final product will be tested using a test machine, labeled, and inspected to ensure that it is free of any leaks and is assembled as specified on the work order.
  • Assist and work with assemblers, troubleshoot any issues and do a final check inspection before product is shipped to the customer.
  • Understand and follow all company policies and safety procedures.

In this role, you will complete all other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Additional training will be provided to new hires on SMC ERP systems, standards, and practices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The physical demands of this position require the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their hands and arms. The role will also necessitate the employee to lift heavy components (up to 40Lbs) as needed.
  • The person is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to hear and talk.
  • As required, some work will take place in an ISO clean room. Head to toe ISO cleanroom attire is required which will be provided by SMC.
  • While the production facility is temperature controlled, the work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, open flame, cold, dust, lubricants and/or solvents.

Some areas may require person to have sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods while doing the assembly work

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience needed.
  • Available to work overtime on weekdays/weekends as needed (multiple day time schedules are available).
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Work in a team environment for an increased productivity and quality.
  • Communication: Must be able to read/write/speak and understand English. Must be able to effectively communicate.
