JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the GL Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller, it is the primary responsibility of the Accountant III to assist in ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger. Tasks necessary to fulfill this requirement include transaction accounting, processing journal entries and reconciling various general ledger accounts. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Record, classify and summarize financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Initiate and process journal entries; both transactional and month end closing.

  • Prepare various reconciliations, as assigned.

  • Respond to inquiries. Check accounting transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Assure that regular month-end checklists are completed according to timeline.

  • Prepare various schedules required for year-end financial audit and assist with audit completion.

  • Cross training and backup for a variety of transactional entry responsibilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and timekeeping areas.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate recording of company activity.

  • Serve as a representative of the company, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions.

  • Familiarity with and awareness of generally accepted accounting principles are required to ensure compliance.

  • Strictly adheres to State, Federal and companies driving policies, journey management instructions and polices.

  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.

  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.

  • Experience with general ledger accounting.

  • Familiar with GAAP accounting principles.

  • A high degree of proficiency in the use of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to work independently & be reliable.

  • Must have exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format.

  • Driver License required.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.  All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.  Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.  Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.  Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Candidates must be able to comply with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, successfully pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both urinalysis and hair testing, and meet the physical requirements of working in a remote location under arctic conditions. In addition, candidates will be required to pass a Fit-for-Duty Exam, complete a background check, and obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location. The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
