JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Specialist operates in collaboration with other Environmental, Health, and Security staff, but functionally reports to the Safety Manager to ensure activities are in adherence to client procedures, policies, and best practices. The Safety Specialist in an individual contributor role that carries out their daily duties in support of the client Site / Project Managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for providing subject matter expertise, collaboratively developing solutions to problems, and providing EHS technical and functional support.

  • This is a client role and may support drilling and completions contracts, operations, maintenance activities and / or construction.

  • Works closely with contractors to ensure execution of their own EHS Plans, along with the Client Pikka Development Plans.

  • Support and assurance are achieved through daily engagement with Client Leadership, field EHS Representatives, and Contractor workforce. Through Field Audits / Observations, sharing best practices, participation in Contractor safety meetings, and Weekly HSE Leadership Meetings.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

  • Must be well organized, efficient and be able to prioritize workload.

  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals.

  • Good skills in oral and written communications.

  • Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals.

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of safety work experience in Alaska

  • 2+ years of experience in the oil and gas and construction industry

  • Microsoft Office Power User - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, One Note, Teams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related sciences

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.  All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.  Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.  Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.  Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Candidates must be able to comply with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, successfully pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both urinalysis and hair testing, and meet the physical requirements of working in a remote location under arctic conditions. In addition, candidates will be required to pass a Fit-for-Duty Exam, complete a background check, and obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location. The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
