Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an exciting career opportunity for a Binder Laboratory Technician to join our Phoenix, AZ team for an individual who is seeking to start a career. This individual will receive and test asphalt binder samples following a variety of standard procedures. Will work under the guidance of experienced staff and be trained.  We offer a variety of testing procedures on various samples from across the US.  Our ideal candidate is willing to learn, flexible and has great attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and investigations in the laboratory and/or field to obtain data for use by engineering and technical personnel in determining physical properties of bituminous materials
  • Perform laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards
  • Use specialized equipment including computer automated equipment to prepare analyses, reports, and / or technical drawings
  • Clean working areas in the laboratory
  • Enter data and use spreadsheet to communicate results
  • Confers with senior staff on test results
  • Set up, maintain and calibrate equipment
  • Will use basic mathematical equations to calculate test results
  • Requires some lifting and carrying
  • Work around hot bituminous materials
  • Work in a safe manner according to company policies, procedures, and laboratory practices
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree not needed
