Direct Care Staff - Residential Counselor

We are hiring!
Located in Albuquerque, NM, Bernalillo Academy is a sub-acute residential treatment facility that serves youth between the ages of 5 and 18 with a diagnosis of Autistic Disorder, Asperger's Disorder, and other Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and Developmental Delays.
Position Overview:
We have immediate openings for Youth Care Support Workers to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for students while implementing structured programming and treatment plans that include teaching skills while decreasing maladaptive behaviors. Youth Care Workers are responsible for data collection, progress note charting, and fostering a strengths-based milieu for students. Bernalillo Academy uses a strength based approach that focuses on learning, practicing, and generalizing skills into more natural environments and intensive teaching to increase skills based on students' strengths.
Work Schedules
We are a 24 hour facility and have 3 shifts available.
Job Requirements
Minimum 6 months experience preferred but not required working with children with Autism/severe emotional disturbances/neurobiological disorders, or two years post-secondary education in a Human Service related field is preferred. Education can be substituted for experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
