Canon Medical Research USA, Inc. (CMRU) is seeking an FPGA/ASIC Engineer to join our VHDLDepartment. In this role, you will oversee definition, design, verification, and documentation forFPGA/ASIC development.

The FPGA/ASIC Engineer will report to the Manager, FPGA/ASIC.

This role is a regular, full-time position requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. This is a hybrid rolebased in CMRU’s main office in Vernon Hills (Chicago), Illinois.

• Determine architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
• Define module interfaces/formats for simulation.
• Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integratedcircuits.
• Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level design to synthesis, place and route, and timingand power use.
• Analyze equipment to establish operation data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results.
• May also review vendor capability to support development.
• Develop digital FPGA logic solutions targeting applications such as system communications/control,data movement and processing, and embedded microprocessors
• Participate in the engineering life cycle of FPGA products including requirements, architecture, design,implementation, verification, integration, and debug following appropriate engineering best practicesand department processes
• Prepare design documentation and participates-in design reviews
• Execute tasks and provides timely status input to project or team lead

• A Bachelor of Science (or Master) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with the following:
  • Digital FPGA design for embedded systems
  • High bandwidth data communications, storage, and manipulation in an FPGAWriting and reviewing documentation including requirements, design, verification, andinterface guides (e.g. User, Software)
  • Hardware/Software integration and lab debug using common equipment includinginternal FPGA logic analyzer tools (e.g. Vivado Logic Analyzer)
  • Communicating and coordinating across engineering functional teams to achieve projectgoals
• Proficiency with:
  • HDL coding (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, etc.) for FPGA development and simulation
  • HDL design and coding best practices for purpose (e.g. resource use, clock-rate, latency)
  • FPGA design tools, simulation tools (e.g. Xilinx Vivado, Mentor QuestaSim)
  • Source control tools (e.g. Subversion, ClearCase)
  • Standard office software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, etc.)

• Exercises judgment within well-defined procedures to solve moderately complex problems;welcomes feedback to modify and improve designs
• Is accurate, thorough and monitors own work quality; constantly looking for ways to improveand promote quality
• Quickly adapts to changes in priority, approach or method to best fit the situation; managescompeting demands; deals well with delays or unexpected events
• Effectively presents information to a variety of people, including project lead and peers onproject teams
• Applies knowledge to troubleshoot a problem and has a good understanding of theoretical andapplied technology
• Strong communication (verbal, written, listening) and time/task management skills
• Is tactful and professional; treats others with respect and consideration

Compensation
This compensation information is a good faith estimate and provided in accordance with state law. The basesalary for this role generally ranges between $149,500 - $180,000 annually. This range is an estimate basedon an applicant’s skills, experience, training, and other business and organization needs. This role is eligiblefor CMRU’s bonus program.
