Overview
We are seeking a detailed oriented and driven Payment Specialist who specializes in ACH, EFT claims, and wire processing to join our team. As an East West Bank employee, you will be part of a growing and stable organization that provides career path development opportunities while serving a growing and profitable market.
As a Payment Specialist, you will work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible for managing tasks related to ACH processing, which includes reviewing, processing and reconciling ACH prefunding files, ACH exceptions (reversals, stop payment requests, failed batches, etc.) ensuring the usage of correct ACH codes, and assisting with EFT claim processing (disputes/chargebacks) within the established SLAs. The Payment Specialist role is critical in maintaining secure and efficient payment processing with a focus on fraud prevention and adhering to the Banks processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Accurate handling of ACH and EFT claim activity ensuring payments are compliant with Bank procedures, regulatory & NACHA requirements.
  • Process, research, and resolve ACH reject activity within established SLAs.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, including unauthorized transactions and chargeback activity.
  • Monitor, review, and clear ACH fraud alerts according to Bank policy.
  • Track and follow up on status of all pending ACH batches.
  • Exception handling review, including follow-ups with internal departments on pending responses, process return files and reconcile daily activity.
  • Process EFT claims, including reviewing supporting documentation, updating dispute logs, following up on pending claims, and tracking resolution status withing established SLAs.
  • Cross train and support wire processing activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience working in the banking industry with strong knowledge in ACH and wire payment processing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant ACH rules and regulations set by NACHA and card networks.
  • 10 key-by touch, typing 40-50 WPM with high accuracy.
  • Understanding of reconcilement processes (e.g., general ledgers, debit, and credit reconciliation) preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, highly secured, and measured production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal (telephone) & written communication skills (email) to interact with internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge of FIS core and payment systems or similar preferred.
  • Participate in afterhours and weekend testing when needed and flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Compensation
The base pay range for this position is USD $20.00/Hr. - USD $26.00/Hr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
