Job Description

Role: Jr. & Sr. Scala Developer
Location: Plymouth Meeting, PA
Duration: 6 Months Contract (will continually extend)
Mode of Interview: Face To Face After Phone
!! Need Green Card, US Citizen, TN Visa, OR EAD GC Candidates Only !!
Responsibilities:
Design, code, and test solutions for a major, global re-platforming effort
Incubate new ideas with working code for proof of concept
Travel to other IMS global offices is possible
Work with 6 sizable development teams to:
Code review and walkthrough
Coordinate interfaces and APIs (ReST and Scala) between the teams
Answer questions from the development teams on the platform
Nice to Haves:
Passion for open source technologies, with a history of contributions
Scala
Actor based concurrency systems (Akka, Scalaz, or Quasar)
Apache Spark and related technologies (Hive, HDFS, Hadoop, YARN, Mesos)
DevOps expertise (git, Jenkins, Maven, SBT, Eclipse, JIRA, OpsCode Chef)
CloudOps familiarity (IaaS like AWS, PaaS, Docker, Vagrant, Infrastructure as code, continuous deployment)
Static code analysis tooling usage (SonarQube, Findbugs)
Enterprise middleware technologies such as ESB, BPEL and OData
Experience with binary serialization protocols and Hadoop SerDe in general: Apache Avro, Parquet, ORC, ProtocolBuffer, or Kryo
Healthcare data a plus

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:
Computer Science Degree from an accredited university
Linux shell scripting
SQL
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
Strong interpersonal skills, including a positive, solution-oriented attitude
Ability to learn new frameworks, languages, paradigms, and techniques quickly and with little direction
Functional programming experience in any language
Strong Comp. Sci. fundamentals and firm understandings of data structures and algorithms
Relational database development and data warehousing know-how
Object-oriented design, with a focus on type systems and static typing, multiple inheritance, and gang of 4 design patterns
SOA experience creating web services and APIs
Test driven design and automated testing techniques
Can take a passionate stand on technology and communicate across a large organization
Development team leadership
