Responsibilities

Functions as a Team Member assisting Lab Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of High-Complexity Testing Laboratories and is committed to utilizing the most current technologies available. Performs a wide range of FDA-approved and laboratory-developed procedures in high volume clinical lab settings. Has an interest in learning new techniques and acquiring new responsibilities in performing laboratory-developed tests and validating novel assays.

Qualifications

Requirements for Molecular Diagnostics Lab Scientist

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution
  • Must have Georgia recognized certification in Medical Technology or being eligible for such certification.
  • One (1) year of biochemistry, analytical chemistry (quantitative analysis) or molecular biology laboratory experience.
  • Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test.

Requirements for Flow Cytometry Lab Scientist

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution
  • Must have Georgia recognized certification in Medical Technology or being eligible for such certification.
  • One (1) year of laboratory experience in hematology, blood banking, immunology or related disciplines.
  • Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test.

PREFERRED

Preferred for Molecular Diagnostics Lab Scientist

  • Basic knowledge of assay development.
  • Experience in various methods of nucleic acids purification (DNA, RNA)
  • Knowledge of various platforms for real-time PCR (TAQMAN, FRET, etc), familiarity with molecular diagnostic software for sequence analysis and DNA-fragment analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.
  • Skills to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts and to draw valid conclusions.
  • Basic computer skills: knowledge of MS Office (Excel, MS Word); basic statistics skills; understanding laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible schedules varied hours or work on-call.

Preferred for Flow Cytometry Lab Scientist

  • Experience in clinical flow cytometry.
  • Experience with operations of BD flow cytometers.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical analysis and software for flow cytometry.
  • Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills: knowledge of MS Word, Excel, understanding of laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to adjust to the flexible schedule, varied hours or work on-call.
