Job description

Medical Technologist, Flow Cytometry Key Responsibilities

Perform specialized flow cytometry testing, including lymphocyte subset analysis, stem cell analysis, and leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Conduct routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures to ensure accurate, reliable test results and compliance with laboratory standards.

Participate in the development, validation, and implementation of new laboratory tests and methodologies to enhance diagnostic capabilities.

Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory professionals, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care and laboratory operations.

Serve as an educator and mentor for Medical Technology students, Clinical Pathology (CP) residents, and fellows by providing handsโ€‘on instruction and guidance in flow cytometry techniques and laboratory best practices.

Maintain compliance with all laboratory safety, regulatory, and accreditation requirements while contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 2 years clinical lab experience required. Excellent computer skills required.

Candidates with no clinical lab experience or with a NYS license/registration or limited permit to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician will be considered for appointment to a commensurate title and salary. Candidates with a BS degree in Natural Sciences may be considered for a commensurate title and salary; these applicants must apply for a restricted license and complete a 1 year training program in Flow Cytometry. Ability to distinguish colors required.
