Job Description

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking a Director of ASC Operations to serve as a strategic and operational leader supporting the VP of ASCs in managing a portfolio of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) across our organization. This role partners closely with corporate leadership, center administrators, physicians, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and strong financial performance. The Director will support day-to-day operational execution while driving standardization, growth initiatives, and long-term strategic planning across multiple sites. The ideal candidate brings deep ASC operations expertise, strong financial acumen, and a proven ability to build trust with surgeons and clinical leaders across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Partner closely with the VP of ASCs to translate organizational priorities into site-level execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide direct operational support for multiple ASCs, ensuring centers meet performance, quality, and patient experience goals.
  • Partner with ASC Administrators and clinical leaders to drive daily operational excellence and streamline case flow, staffing models, scheduling templates, and block utilization.
  • Support centers in achieving survey readiness and maintaining compliance with AAAHC, CMS, OSHA, and state-specific regulatory requirements.

Financial Performance & Reporting:

  • Monitor ASC financial performance, including revenue, EBITDA, cost per case, labor utilization, and supply management.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance to support annual budgeting, monthly close processes, forecasting, and ongoing performance reviews.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify trends, guide decision-making, and implement performance improvements across centers.

Strategic Growth & Physician Engagement:

  • Support physician relations, onboarding, and retention efforts for surgeons and anesthesia teams across centers.
  • Partner with corporate development to evaluate expansion opportunities, decommissioning plans, new ASC builds, and potential acquisitions.
  • Drive key growth initiatives such as block time realignment, external MD growth strategies, and the introduction of new technologies or service lines.
  • Collaborate with center leadership teams to maintain high levels of surgeon satisfaction and operational transparency.

Corporate Partnership & Cross-Functional Alignment:

  • Serve as a liaison between ASCs and corporate departments including Finance, HR, IT, Compliance, Supply Chain, and RCM.
  • Drive alignment and execution of corporate initiatives, technology rollouts, ASC software selection, and performance dashboard utilization.
  • Partner with People/HR to support ASC Administrators with leadership development, hiring, coaching, and retention strategies for ASC staff.
  • Partner with Compliance to oversee credentialing, user access reviews, and internal audit processes.

Process Standardization & Technology:

  • Use data-driven insights to guide decision-making, identify trends, and implement performance improvements.
  • Lead standardization efforts across centers, including policies, workflows, staffing models, case costing, purchasing, and reporting.
  • Drive adoption, training, and optimization of ASC systems including EHR platforms (HST, SIS), inventory management, scheduling, and financial reporting tools.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

What You Know

  • Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of ASC or surgical operations leadership experience, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC regulatory frameworks including AAAHC, CMS, OSHA, and applicable state regulations.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&Ls, and core operational KPIs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of physician engagement, staff development, and cross-functional operational leadership.
  • Ability to travel routinely to assigned ASCs.
  • Experience with HST ASC EHR systems (SIS and HST) is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates located in Michigan or Ohio strongly preferred.
