ASAP Engagement Coordinator (Academic ASAP Program Coordinator) **POSITION DETAILS** Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens **,** LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia's degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students. Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. LaGuardia ranked fifth among U.S. community colleges in economic mobility - moving low-income students into the middle class and beyond - in studies by Stanford University (2017) and the Brookings Institution (2020).Please visit www.laguardia.edu to learn more. Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps motivated community college students earn degrees as quickly as possible, with a goal of graduating at least 50% of students within three years. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study, mandatory tutoring, and comprehensive advisement and career development services. Financial incentives include tuition waivers for financial aid-eligible students and free use of textbooks and monthly Transportation support for all students. Further information is available at www.cuny.edu/ASAP About ASAP Labor & Employment Law Reporting to the ASAP Assistant Director for Collaborative Strategy, the engagement coordinator will develop and manage broad student engagement efforts. They will work closely with campus student support areas on initiatives and interventions that support and promote student success. The coordinator provides operational and analytical support related to ASAP program needs. They perform duties including but not limited to the following: + Monitors and maintains student enrollment and information databases; collects and maintains statistical data, and prepares reports and surveys using student information and enrollment data; + Collects information to evaluate program/event success and reports results; + Serves as liaison to various College offices to ensure smooth operations and verification of student information; + Creates and distributes marketing and promotional and event materials for ASAP programming; + Assists with the coordination and execution of student activities, workshops, meetings and special events and develops engagement strategies to support student success and assist the program with meeting retention goals and benchmarks; + Collaborates with ASAP advisors to provide supports to students on academic probation; + Connects new and continuing ASAP students to campus resources, co-curricular, and engagement opportunities; + Develops and facilitates student success workshops on various topics, for example: time management, test anxiety, college transition, co-curricular involvement, and experiential learning, etc; + Collaborates with Academic Program Specialist, Engagement Specialist, and Career Specialist to support special initiatives (e.g. STEM; Foster Care Initiative; Research Scholars); + Provides mentoring and guidance to support to a small cohort of students as needed and has flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Experience in higher education or working with college students strongly preferred + Strong understanding of the educational needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds + Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently with minimal supervision + Experience developing, organizing and delivering presentations to students and staff + Strong interpersonal and communication skills + Experience providing coaching and mentoring + Experience with MS office (word, excel) + Demonstrated knowledge of equitable and inclusive practices to support and engage students **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront.
