Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Responsible for the caring for the patient and development of nursing plan of care. Responsible to be an active member of the ARU multidisciplinary team.
SUPERVISOR - Inpatient Nursing Director (ICU/Telemetry/Inpatient Rehab)
SUPERVISES -Care of the patient
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
โ€ข Demonstrates respect for others and self. Treats all contacts with friendliness courtesy and respect. Shows empathy. Uses self-control in interactions with others.
โ€ข Provides a positive first impression. Adheres to ORHC dress code. Wears name badge. Provides proper greetings and offers assistance. Keeps work area, hospital and grounds clean, neat and organized.
โ€ข Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Attends set treatment team meetings and progress reviews as evidence by signature on treatment planning update forms.
โ€ข Uses positive/effective communication with patients, visitors, associates and others.
โ€ข Takes action to resolve customer complaints
โ€ข Completes initial assessment, evaluation, treatment and progress as evidenced by initial assessment forms completed in the medical record and documentation in the progress notes.
โ€ข Completes a plan of care for all patients and carries it through
โ€ข Takes pride in the health center. Acts as an ambassador for Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Treats ORHC equipment, supplies and resources with care and uses them efficiently
โ€ข Demonstrates integrity. Is honest in dealing with others. Ensures the privacy and confidentiality of patient and business-related information. Maintains accurate records.
โ€ข Is a team player.
โ€ข Demonstrates respect for others by offering praise, recognition and encouragement.
โ€ข Communication Demonstrates clear, concise and direct communication with customers, unit leadership and multidisciplinary team members by:
โ€ข Administration of medication accurately
โ€ข Attends required training and continuing education as evidenced by attendance forms that will be added to personnel file.
โ€ข Completes all competency requirements as evidenced by completion forms, these will be completed annually or per hospital requirements.
โ€ข Regular attendance is an essential function of this job
โ€ข Attends mandatory meetings and in-services.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
โ€ข Possesses the specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide care for people with physical limitations and chronic illness.
โ€ข Performs hand-on nursing by utilizing the nursing process to achieve quality outcomes for patients.
โ€ข Provides direction and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel through appropriate delegation.
โ€ข Demonstrates professional judgment and uses problem solving when utilizing technology and time management principals.
โ€ข Coordinates nursing care activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehab team to facilitate achievement of overall goals.
โ€ข Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills to develop a rapport with clients, families and health team members to ensure the fulfillment of requirements for legal documentation and reimbursement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the ARU Nurse Manager and the ARU Director and is responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. S/He performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job
โ€ข Ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate plans of care for the patient population.
โ€ข Should have a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic activities for admitted patients in a Acute Rehabilitation setting.
EDUCATION
โ€ข Graduate of a Registered Nursing program.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
โ€ข Current BCLS certification
โ€ข Current Iowa Registered Nurse License or compact state nursing license giving the ability to practice In Iowa.
