  • Retirement: Competitive retirement package to secure your future.

Responsibilities

The Division of Informatics in the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN invites applications for an Artificial Intelligence Scientist position within our clinical AI team. The Department of Radiology has established a robust ecosystem supporting the discovery, development, translation, and clinical application of artificial intelligence. As this program evolves from early discovery toward broader clinical deployment, we are expanding the scientific and operational capabilities required to translate promising AI technologies into reliable, scalable, and sustainable clinical practice. The successful candidate will contribute to the full lifecycle of clinical artificial intelligence solutions, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, engineering, and healthcare operations to help ensure that AI technologies are intentionally integrated into clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Translation & Implementation Science: Develop and apply rigorous approaches for translating AI technologies into clinical practice. Evaluate where and how AI should be incorporated into clinical workflows, how human and AI capabilities should interact, and what implementation strategies are required to achieve adoption. Help move successful technologies beyond pilots toward scalable and sustainable clinical use.
  • AI Product Release & Postproduction Monitoring: Support deployment and ongoing oversight of AI solutions in clinical production environments. Partner with technical and clinical teams to identify performance degradation and establish appropriate remediation and escalation processes.
  • Scientific & Technical Leadership: Apply scientific rigor to the evaluation and implementation of AI technologies. Contribute to the development of methods, standards, frameworks, and best practices for responsible clinical AI deployment.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work effectively across organizational boundaries and multidisciplinary teams. Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, informaticians, physicians, clinical staff, operational leaders, researchers, and external partners.
  • Communication & Research: Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences. Opportunities may include peer-reviewed research, development of novel evaluation methodologies, presentations, intellectual property, and collaboration on externally funded research.

This position is limited tenure, with anticipation of annual renewal. The successful candidate will have opportunities for professional growth and, depending on organizational needs and performance, potential transition to an ongoing position within Mayo Clinic.
