K–12 Art Teacher

Granger Christian School

Position Summary

Granger Christian School is seeking a passionate, Christ-centered Art Teacher who is committed to cultivating creativity as an expression of God's image in every student. The successful candidate will inspire students from kindergarten through twelfth grade to develop artistic skills, appreciate beauty, and understand the role of art in God's creation while integrating biblical truth throughout instruction.

The Art Teacher will create a nurturing classroom environment where students grow in artistic technique, critical thinking, creativity, and character. As part of our classical Christian education program, the teacher will encourage students to recognize truth, goodness, and beauty through the visual arts.

Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction
  • Teach art to students in grades K–12 using age-appropriate instructional methods.
  • Develop engaging lessons that build foundational artistic skills while encouraging creativity and craftsmanship.
  • Teach a variety of artistic media including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art as appropriate.
  • Integrate biblical worldview into all aspects of instruction, helping students understand that creativity reflects the Creator.
  • Foster an appreciation for art history, artists, and the role of beauty throughout history and culture.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental needs and abilities of all learners.
  • Assess student growth and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Classroom Environment
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging art studio.
  • Establish clear classroom expectations that promote respect, responsibility, and stewardship of materials.
  • Encourage collaboration, creativity, perseverance, and excellence.
  • Ensure proper care, inventory, and organization of art supplies and equipment.
Student Development
  • Model Christ-like character in relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Encourage students to use their artistic gifts to glorify God and serve others.
  • Promote confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
School Community
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the mission of the school.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and spiritual life activities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Assist in displaying student artwork throughout the school and organizing art exhibitions or showcases.
Qualifications
  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles.
  • Agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and commitment to its mission.
  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (teaching certification preferred).
  • Ability to teach students across multiple grade levels.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute to the overall life of the school.
  • ACSI certification or willingness to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a Christian or classical Christian school.
  • Knowledge of classical education philosophy.
  • Experience organizing student art shows or community exhibitions.
  • Familiarity with a variety of traditional and contemporary artistic techniques.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and art supplies up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate artistic techniques and supervise students safely while using art tools and equipment.
