Job description

Vogt Auction Galleries is seeking a highly organized, motivated and detail-driven team member to fill the position of Cataloger/Appraiser.

Vogt Auction Galleries has built an unrivaled reputation for integrity and success handling more than 5000 estates with more than $150 million in sales. And we’re growing like crazy!
As Cataloger/Appraiser for Vogt Auction Galleries, YOU would be at the heart of the action, handling antiques and fine art and bringing them to life for the world to see through our online bidding platforms. You would be responsible for evaluating and creating descriptions of catalog property and auction consignments, as well as assisting in our ever-interesting appraisal department. This position provides a great opportunity to learn about antiques, art, objet d’art and the auction industry.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Catalogues property assigned for all general and specialty auctions to industry and company standards
· Ensures and maintains accuracy of all catalogued content
· Uploads digital catalogue to Company website and other online platforms
· Curates theme-specific auctions
· Compiles order of sale for optimum online and in-house sales

· Ensures that all information in company-based systems are present and accurate
· Coordinates the physical presentation of the sale to include lot tags
· Approves authenticity of bidders
· Responds promptly to all customer requests for condition reports and further inquiries
· Manages the Company’s informal appraisal process and coordinates information to relevant departments where necessary
· Greet clients to support appraisal, consignment and sale efforts
· Manages consigner expectations
· Researches and evaluates market prices and trends and compiles an evolving master list of desired items
· Assists with research and processing of appraisals
· Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager
What a Strong Candidate Has:

- Good written/cataloging skills that shows attention to detail
- Strong researching skills in a high production environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- A background and interest in antiques and decorative arts a plus, but not necessary
- A great attitude and sense of humor
Compensation:

$18-25 per hour + performance related bonuses
Full time, 40-hour week
