Job description

SUMMARY This position diligently uphold the standards, policies, and interests of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa and ensures the safety and security of guests and employees, as well as their property. To provide a visible and vigilant outside patrol as a means of deterring vandalism, theft, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check all exterior buildings as per checklist
  • Check all PIV's (Post Indicator Values) at Valleyview, Governor's Hall and Clubhouse
  • Perform drive-through inspections of all resort condominium sites including Holt Road and Deepwater Pointe, checking lighting, open doors, suspicious persons/vehicles, etc.
  • Respond to all exterior building intrusion and fire alarms, i.e. Deepwater Pointe, Laundry/Golf & Grounds, Golf School, Pro-Shop, Clubhouse and Beverage Cart Barn
  • Check golf course perimeter gate on Bracket road
  • Check Arrowhead Estates
  • Check Afternine building and ensure gate to road is locked when building is closed
  • Check the Dog House (Dog Dreams Inn) and communicate with personnel as necessary, i.e. in person, radio
  • Check all construction sites, construction field offices and construction material sites
  • Respond to all noise complaints, disturbances, fires, medical emergencies, etc. outside main complex
  • Direct police, fire, ambulance, etc. when they are responding to calls to the Resort
  • Monitor parking situation at all times
  • Monitor snow/ice accumulation on roads and communicate conditions to Shift Commander for relay to snow removal crews
  • Escort cashiers from satellite operations back to main building upon request
  • Transport guests/employees to clinics/hospitals, condominiums, etc.
  • Ensure Christmas lighting is turned off/on when applicable
  • Check all exterior lighting for proper operation and coverage
  • Perform all out-building and vehicle fire extinguisher checks monthly
  • Maintain periodic contact with Shift Commander via radio
  • Inform Shift Commander immediately of any unusual activity or suspicious persons
  • Write complete, concise, and accurate reports for departmental, legal, and insurance purposes
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by the Shift Commander or Director of Security and Risk Management
  • Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least 1 year previous work experience in the security field, military service, law enforcement or related field.
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and qualify for driving resort vehicles under company policy as mandated by our insurance company.
  • CPR and AED training is highly preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrates organizational skills
  • Demonstrates customer service skills and the ability to effectively work with people
  • Demonstrates ability to conduct security investigations that include skills in: problem solving, data collection, establishing relevant facts and drawing valid conclusions
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate, current and coherent security logs
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multitask with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be detail-oriented
  • Ability to articulate and support Grand Traverse Resort and Spa's values and Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrates skills in working with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet resources, security cameras and other equipment routinely used by security personnel
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position requires walking, standing and driving
  • May occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines. WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to be outside in the different environments of all four seasons
