Job description

Job Title: Allied Trades Specialist (Welding and Machining) (91E) Instructor

Essential Job Functions: Instructor/writer providing training including classroom training, discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises as part of performance-oriented training. Responsible for simulation/virtual training and/or field exercise training. Duties include testing, planning, completing additional training, providing remedial assistance, and other course administrative matters. Is expected to follow and understand the Program of Instruction, adhering to task, conditions, and standards.

As a subject matter expert participate in revisions and making pen and ink changes to Programs of Instruction, lesson plans, and training support materials to ensure training is doctrinally updated and accurate, reflecting current training strategies.

Expected to maintain equipment, enter faults, perform PMCS, prepare classrooms and training environments, and conduct and record academic counseling.

Required Education and Experience:

Have completed the Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course (CFDIC), or its equivalent within the last five (5) years and the TRADOC Initial Military Training (IMT) Installation Staff and Contractors Course (ISCC). Must complete refresher training if outside the five years.

Have completed Blackboard 101 Instructor Training within 3 years of work and dependent on the course being instructed.

Must possess the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and Additional Skills Identifier (ASI) specific technical training for which being hired and have been certified.

Must possess a minimum of three years’ experience in the technical and tactical training experience in the MOS for which they are performing the instruction.

Possess a minimum of three years specific experience in teaching, developing or reviewing course materials, training aids, and manuals.

Possess knowledge of applicable regulations and doctrine regarding the MOS.

Capable of passing all hands-on and written student tests in accordance with the Ordnance School Instructional Management SOP.

Be proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office computer programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel).

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Must be detail oriented and have excellent organization, planning, coordination, and time management skills.

Possess effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Experience developing and updating lesson plans and training materials.

Possess outstanding communicative skills both verbal and nonverbal.

Be able to successfully complete all required training during period of employment.

Specific Qualification Requirements based on position being hired:

Must possess the skill set that falls under one or both of the areas of welding and/or machining. Must either hold certificate in one of the following MOS’s: ARMY-91E Allied Trades Specialist; United States Marine Corps (USMC)-2161 Machinist; USMC-1316 Welder; United States Air Force (USAF)-2A7X1 Metals Technologist; or equivalent other services course which meets one of the technical skill sets or have National Accredited, Union, or previous employer certifications associated with metalworking such as National Institute Metalworking Skills and/or the American Welding Society. Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ technical experience and hands-on skills in either performing various weld applications that include thermal cutting, welding processes in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), or various machining applications that include machine bench work, Computer Numeric Control (CNC) lathe, CNC milling machine and Computer-Aided Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, or Cybersecurity, or Information Management or related discipline or the minimum experience listed below

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in cyber range or computer test bed environments.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Program Management or SR level DoD experience or Defense Industry Civilian Professional working with SR level DoD personnel.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting Army and Joint Cyber Training.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, evaluate, and lead Cyber training programs effectively.
  • Working knowledge of OT/IT technologies, cellular systems, networking, and IT management.
