Pet Care Operations Manager - Weekends
Part-Time | Remote | Saturday & Sunday
Charleston Dog Walker | Charleston, SC
$22/hour | Approximately 5 hours/week
Charleston Dog Walker is looking for a dependable, thoughtful Pet Care Operations Manager to oversee and support our weekend pet care operations.
This is a small but important leadership role for someone who genuinely loves animals, communicates well, and can stay calm and make good decisions when something unexpected comes up.
As our Weekend Pet Care Operations Manager, you'll be the primary point of support for our pet care team on Saturdays and Sundays. You'll help keep visits running smoothly, solve scheduling or pet care issues as they arise, communicate with clients, and make sure our team is providing the reliable, professional care our clients expect from us.A little more about the schedule:
This is an on-call leadership role, not a traditional five-hour shift.
Actual working time averages approximately 5 hours per week, but those hours are typically spread throughout Saturday and Sunday in short periods of work rather than completed all at once.
You'll need to be consistently reachable between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. EST on Saturdays and Sundays to manage scheduling requests as they come in and assist staff or clients when needed. Some weekends are very quiet, while others are busier depending on scheduling activity and any issues that arise.
This role works best for someone whose normal weekend lifestyle allows them to remain available and responsive throughout the day. What You'll Do
  • Manage weekend scheduling requests and changes, and oversee daily visit schedules
  • Be available to support pet care staff with questions, emergencies, pet care concerns, or scheduling issues
  • Arrange coverage when a team member has a last-minute emergency
  • Monitor visits, GPS check-ins, journals, and other service standards
  • Communicate with clients by email, phone, and text when needed
  • Help staff problem-solve calmly and confidently when unexpected situations arise
  • Track tips, bonuses, schedule changes, and other operational details
  • Conduct occasional staff check-ins and assist with coaching
  • Work collaboratively with our weekday Pet Care Operations Manager to ensure a smooth handoff between weekends and weekdays
  • Help improve procedures and systems as our company continues to grow
You Might Be a Great Fit If You...
Genuinely love animals and have hands-on animal care experience beyond caring for your own pets.
You're also someone who:
  • Is dependable and follows through
  • Notices details and cares about doing things correctly
  • Communicates clearly, professionally, and kindly
  • Doesn't panic when several things happen at once
  • Can figure out what needs immediate attention and what can wait
  • Is comfortable making decisions independently but knows when to ask for help
  • Is comfortable giving guidance and following up with team members
  • Enjoys organization, systems, and problem-solving
  • Is comfortable with technology and learning new software
  • Wants a long-term role and can commit for at least 12 months
Requirements
You must:
  • Be based in or very familiar with the Charleston, SC area
  • Be consistently available and responsive Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST
  • Have a reliable computer, smartphone, and internet connection
  • Be comfortable using Google Drive, spreadsheets, scheduling software, and other online systems
  • Be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Be able to pass a background check

Previous professional pet care, veterinary, animal services, or people-management experience is strongly preferred.Compensation
$22/hour for time worked
$25/hour on company holidays
Approximately 5 hours of paid work per week
This is a fully remote, part-time position with meaningful responsibility and autonomy.About Charleston Dog Walker
Charleston Dog Walker is a professional dog walking and pet sitting company built around trust, reliability, and thoughtful care. Our clients trust us with their pets and their homes, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We're looking for someone who feels the same way.
If animals are a meaningful part of your life, you're someone others can count on, and this type of behind-the-scenes problem-solving sounds genuinely interesting to you, we'd love to hear from you.
