Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring an Area Manager - Central Alabama for our Birmingham, AL office to lead operations, drive growth, and develop high-performing teams within the Central Alabama market. This role is responsible for overall business performance, client relationships, financial oversight, and strategic execution across the region.
Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide day-to-day leadership aligned with company mission and core values
  • Develop and execute regional growth strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Create and implement strategic plans to track KPIs and performance metrics
  • Partner with senior leadership to strengthen operational structure and processes
Business Development & Client Leadership
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability within the assigned market
  • Serve as lead client account manager for key clients and major projects
  • Represent the firm with integrity in client, community, and industry settings
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
Financial & Operational Management
  • Oversee regional P&L, project budgets, and financial performance
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure timely client payments
  • Support financial reporting and proactively address efficiency gaps
  • Ensure operational controls, reporting procedures, and performance standards are met
Team & Talent Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Client Account Managers
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance

Additional Duties
  • Supervises Project Managers and Client Account Managers within the assigned region

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.ย 
  • 10+ years of operating management experience in a consulting engineering environment, with 5+ years in senior management preferred.ย
