CONTEXT: We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Area Manager to oversee multiple ready-mix concrete plants within the San Antonio area. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high standards in production, quality, safety, and cost control while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is a strong self-starter with a proven track record of operating to/or beating budget, strong safety acumen, and a strategic thinker.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of multiple ready-mix concrete plant locations to ensure optimal performance in safety, quality, volume, and cost.
  • Drive operational efficiency by monitoring production KPIs, streamlining processes, and reducing downtime and waste.
  • Monitor driver scheduling and dispatch operations to ensure high delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop plant and driver personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of raw materials, maintaining adequate supply while controlling costs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and environmental and safety standards.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to ensure plant and fleet equipment are well maintained and reliable.
  • Collaborate with sales, quality control, and dispatch to meet customer requirements and resolve issues promptly.
  • Use operational software such as Keystone, Command Alkon, or similar systems to monitor and manage plant activities and reporting.
  • Identify and implement best practices to improve operational performance and reduce costs across all sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience in Ready Mix or related heavy industrial/construction operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or multi-site management role.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, make timely decisions, and drive performance in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in industry software such as Keystone, Command Alkon, or similar dispatch and operational platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety compliance, and basic mechanical systems relevant to plant and fleet operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
