About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Area Chief Engineer to lead our Engineering TEAM and oversee the maintenance, safety, and overall condition of our hotel.

As Chief Engineer, you'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the property's building systems, equipment, and grounds. You'll lead the Engineering Department, oversee preventative maintenance, manage projects, and work closely with hotel leadership to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our guests and associates.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and oversee all daily Engineering and maintenance operations
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and develop the Engineering TEAM
  • Assign daily work and ensure maintenance requests are completed efficiently
  • Oversee the hotel's Preventive Maintenance Program and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, building systems, equipment, and grounds
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems
  • Manage ongoing maintenance projects and coordinate outside contractors when needed
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and property systems are properly maintained
  • Identify and address maintenance and safety concerns before they impact guests
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Operations Manager to support smooth hotel operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure the TEAM follows proper procedures
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and support the hotel during unexpected situations
  • Maintain the property's grounds and exterior areas to a high standard
  • Provide excellent service and respond professionally to guest and department requests
What We're Looking For
  • 3–4 years of Engineering Management experience, preferably in a luxury or full-service hotel
  • Previous hotel Engineering experience required
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and general repairs
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of building systems and equipment
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop Engineering associates
  • Required government licenses, certifications, or permits as applicable
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree or Technical School training preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate mechanical equipment and a variety of hand and power tools
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
  • Hands-on, dependable, and TEAM-oriented approach
