Position Type: Support Staff/Kitchen Manger Date Posted: 6/4/2026 Location: Morse Street School RSU5 DURHAM-FREEPORT-POWNAL Kitchen Manager (1865) 2026-2027 Morse Street School RSU5 is seeking a full-time Kitchen Manager for Morse Street Elementary School, starting August 2026. Position Summary: The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, maintaining program records, managing inventory and food orders, and ensuring compliance will all food safety, sanitation, and quality standards. This position plays an essential role in supporting student health and ensuring the success of the school nutrition program. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee and manage all daily kitchen operations • Supervise, schedule and support kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow • Plan and coordinate meal production in accordance with USDA school nutrition guidelines • Maintain accurate program records, including production records, temperature logs, and compliance documentation • Manage inventory, place food and supply orders, and monitor usage to control costs and minimize waste • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation regulations • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control • Train staff on proper food handling, safety procedures, and operational expectations • Collaborate with the School Nutrition Director on menu implementation and program improvements • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and serving area Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required • Previous experience in kitchen management preferred • Knowledge of National School Breakfast Program (NSBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements preferred • Current ServSafe Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification preferred (or ability to obtain) • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities Reports To: Nutrition Director Work Schedule: • 40 hours per week • 188 day per year (school-year position) A detailed job description, including essential functions and duties, can be found here: RSU5 Job Descriptions.
