Job description

QUALIFICATIONS


Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is
qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:


Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Engineering, or related field.
One (1) year of experience working in landscape design, park planning, or another related field.

At the time of application, must meet at least one of the following professional development conditions and provide documentation upon request.

  • Current membership with the American Planning Association (APA);
  • Current membership with the Project Management Institute (PMI);
  • Active Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) account;
  • Active National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) account;
  • Active National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) account.

Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license. Must pass MVR check. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

The Parks Planner reviews plats, site plans, landscape plans, irrigation plans, tree surveys, and tree mitigation
plans to ensure compliance with the subdivision and zoning ordinance and the Parks Master Plan. Coordinates
and manages assigned smaller-scope park planning, design, development, renovation, and construction projects
under the direction of senior staff.
